Starcke ABRASIVES - PAST AND PRESENT

Starcke GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized independent fourth-generation family business that ranks among the major suppliers in the market. The origins of our business activities can be traced back to before 1720.

Our corporate history begins with the trade in metal and household commodities, later substituted by the manufacture of cleaning agents, detergents, and matches. Towards the end of the 19th century, the production range was extended by emery paper and sanding linens. In the years to follow, these articles gained in significance as industrialisation progressed. Today, they are widely referred to in the industry as coated abrasives and are classified as high-quality tools.

For over 100 years our abrasive cloth and paper has added the finishing touch to a wide variety of surfaces, converting them into quality products. A diverse production range is marketed world-wide through subsidiaries and independent distribution channels.

With corporate history spanning over 280 years since the company's origin - 175 years of which were shaped under the name of STARCKE - we aim to continue our tradition by actively forging the future. One proof of our commitment is the investment in a state-of-the-art production facility for coated abrasives, completed in 1997. Ranking among the most advanced operations of its kind world-wide, it ensures the ongoing manufacture of acknowledged top-of-the-line quality products.
